Dear Faculty and Staff,

At the U, we are united in stopping sexual violence and gender discrimination. Each of us plays an important role in fostering a harassment-free campus community.

Thank you to all who have made significant improvements to our prevention and education efforts and our response to sexual violence on campus. I especially want to acknowledge the hard work and dedication of the President’s Coalition on Sexual Violence Prevention and Education, and its co-chairs Dr. Ashley Falcon and Kimberly Martin.

Programs spearheaded by the Coalition, like the “It’s On Us” campaign, ask each of us to be accountable and engaged by focusing on getting help, supporting others, and taking action. The creation of a student ambassador program and a more comprehensive approach to providing information and resources on sexual violence have been well received. We also recently welcomed a new Title IX Coordinator, Bonnie Muschett, who leads efforts on compliance and reporting for the entire University.

Students recently received a campus climate survey that measures their experiences and attitudes related to sexual violence. The confidential survey is a vital tool that will help us better understand and address students’ concerns and the challenges we face as a community. More information on the survey and results from prior years are available here.

Stopping sexual violence is on all of us, and we are committed to creating a safer and more supportive living and learning environment for everyone.
